Rebates and Funding Options

Rebates available for services. Please check with individual health funds for actual rebates. Medicare rebates available under GP Chronic Disease Management plans.

Private health rebates may be available for eligible Exercise Physiology and Occupational Therapy services where your policy includes the appropriate extras cover.

Eligibility and rebate amounts are determined by your health fund and level of cover. We recommend contacting your insurer before your appointment and asking:

  • Is Exercise Physiology or Occupational Therapy included in my extras cover?
  • Does a waiting period apply?
  • How much can I claim per appointment?
  • Is there an annual limit?

Where on-the-spot claiming is available, you will pay the remaining gap. Otherwise, we can provide a receipt for you to submit directly to your insurer.

You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate through a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan or another applicable Medicare referral pathway.
Your GP determines whether you meet the Medicare eligibility requirements. A valid referral must be in place before your appointment for us to process the claim.
The Physiology Collective does not bulk bill. You will be required to pay the appointment fee, and an out-of-pocket gap will apply after the Medicare rebate.
Medicare-funded allied health appointments are limited and may be shared across different allied health professions. Please speak with your GP about your eligibility.

Current rebate is: $63.40 per session

The Physiology Collective is a registered NDIS provider for relevant Exercise Physiology supports. Occupational Therapy services are available to eligible plan-managed and self-managed participants, subject to clinical scope, funding and clinician availability.

NDIS services are charged according to the applicable service agreement and current pricing arrangements. Travel, reports and other authorised non-face-to-face supports may also be charged where applicable.

We will discuss the proposed service, fees and consent with you before commencing.

We may be able to provide services under other approved funding or third-party payment arrangements.

Please contact us before booking so we can confirm whether we accept the funding type, whether prior approval is required and how invoices need to be processed.

Cancellation policy

Changing or cancelling an appointment

We ask for at least 48 hours’ notice—equivalent to two clear business days—if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
Late cancellations and non-attendance may attract a fee because the appointment time has been reserved for you and may not be able to be offered to another client.

We understand that unexpected circumstances can occur. Please contact us as soon as possible if you cannot attend so we can discuss your circumstances and available options.

Funding arrangements, including the NDIS, may have specific cancellation requirements. The terms applying to your service will be explained in your service agreement.

Frequently asked questions

Select a question below to learn more. If you cannot find the answer you need, our team is happy to help.

Appointments and getting started

No. You can book privately with an Exercise Physiologist or Occupational Therapist without a referral.

A referral is required if you intend to claim a Medicare rebate or access a funding arrangement that requires prior approval. Please contact us if you are unsure.

You can book selected appointments through our online booking system or contact our team by telephone or email.

Please contact us directly for NDIS services, Occupational Therapy, Functional Capacity Assessments, home visits or hydrotherapy so we can ensure that you are matched with the appropriate clinician and appointment type.

Appointments are available at our Manly West clinic. Depending on the service, clinical need, location and clinician availability, we may also provide home visits, community-based appointments and hydrotherapy at an appropriate local pool.

Please wear comfortable clothing and bring any relevant referrals, medical reports, imaging, medication information, NDIS documents or funding approvals.
You are welcome to bring a family member, support person or advocate.

You do not need to be fit or experienced before seeing an Exercise Physiologist. We begin with your current abilities, needs and confidence.

We do not judge your body, fitness level or exercise history. Exercises are explained clearly and adapted to help you find a safe, achievable starting point.

Exercise Physiology

An Accredited Exercise Physiologist is a university-qualified allied health professional who uses evidence-based exercise to help manage health conditions, disability, injury and changes in physical function.

Exercise may be used to support strength, mobility, balance, symptom management, independence, confidence and participation in everyday activities.

We begin with a conversation about your health, function, everyday activities, goals and previous experiences with exercise.

With your consent, your clinician may assess relevant areas such as strength, balance, mobility or cardiovascular capacity. You will then receive individual recommendations based on your needs and priorities.

Our areas of interest include women’s health, pregnancy and postpartum exercise, menopause, bone health, neurological rehabilitation, disability, paediatrics, healthy ageing, chronic disease, persistent pain, orthopaedic rehabilitation, balance, falls prevention and hydrotherapy.

Yes. We offer small group Exercise Physiology classes. An individual assessment is required before joining so we can understand your needs and prescribe appropriate exercises.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapists help people participate more safely and independently in everyday activities at home and in the community.

Our services may include Functional Capacity Assessments, Assistive Technology assessments, minor home modification assessments, functional assessments and NDIS reports.

A Functional Capacity Assessment examines how a disability affects a person’s ability to complete everyday activities and participate at home and in the community.
The process may include interviews, observations, standardised assessments, review of existing information and consultation with relevant members of the participant’s support team.

Yes. With your consent, a family member, advocate, support worker or support coordinator may attend and contribute relevant information.

Payments and administration

Private appointment fees are generally payable on the day of service. Different invoicing arrangements may apply to approved third-party, plan-managed or agency-managed services.

Where on-the-spot claiming is available and your appointment is eligible, we can process the claim at the clinic. Otherwise, we can issue a receipt for you to submit to your health fund.

Travel, report writing and other authorised non-face-to-face clinical work may be charged where applicable. We will explain expected additional costs before completing the work.

Yes. Please contact us with the service you require, your funding arrangement and any relevant deadlines. For larger assessments or reports, we can explain the expected scope and provide an estimate before commencing.
