Trish and Shannen
Trish, one of our remarkable clients, is embarking on an extraordinary adventure – the Larapinta Trek in August 2024.

However, her journey is not just about conquering rugged terrain; it’s a mission to transform lives and ignite hope for those affected by Parkinson’s Disease.

In 2019, Trish received the life-altering diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease. Since then, she has navigated through challenges, seeking ways to manage her symptoms and maintain her quality of life. Despite the obstacles, Trish has remained resilient, fueled by a determination to overcome the impact of the disease on her daily life.

Journey of rehabilitation and empowerment

At our clinic, Trish found unwavering support from our dedicated Exercise Physiologists, Rachel and Shannen. Together, they embarked on a journey of rehabilitation and empowerment, focusing on improving Trish’s function and minimizing the effects of her symptoms. Through tailored exercise programs and compassionate guidance, Trish regained confidence in her abilities and discovered new strength within herself.

Monumental Challenge - Larapinta Trail
27th August – 1st September 2024

Now, Trish and her husband Ian are gearing up for a monumental challenge – trekking the Larapinta Trail. Over six inspiring days, participants will become immersed in the Dreamtime traditions of the Western Arrernte Aboriginal peoples, following rugged Dreaming tracks beside an ancient river system. They will discover the diverse desert habitat from one of Australia’s premier walking routes, passing incredible natural wonders from the narrow ochre passage at Wallaby Gap to the towering walls and cooling waters of Ormiston Gorge. A highlight of the trip will be the early morning ascent of Mount Sonder to enjoy a panoramic sunrise over the West MacDonnell Ranges from the 1,380m peak. At the end of each day, participants will camp beneath rusty sunsets and endless stars, listening to the timeless sounds of the native wildlife of Central Australia. And with every step, they will contribute to improving the lives of those living with Parkinson’s and their families.

Beyond personal achievement, their expedition serves a higher purpose: to raise vital funds for Parkinson’s research and support services. With a fundraising goal of $7000, Trish has rallied a team, aptly named Team Peddie, to join her in this noble cause.

Their mission is clear: to make a difference in the lives of those impacted by Parkinson’s Disease.

Every step they take along the rugged terrain of the Larapinta Trail is a testament to their resilience, hope, and unwavering commitment to creating a brighter future for the Parkinson’s community.
